Welcome

Hello, friends! Welcome to my blog. I'm new at this thing, so as a first post, why don't I just introduce myself? My name is Jaléna. Don't freak out, you got this. It's pronounced (juh-lay-nuh).
I was never a good speller growing up, I had hearing problems during the time I was learning to read and write, so as a result I didn't write much.
I never really saw myself as a writer, and quite frankly it never really interested me.
Funny how life turns out.
I honestly can't imagine my life without writing now, and have written countless letters to family and friends, have a box full of diaries and journals from ages 10-present, have over 100 notes on my phone, text mini novels to my friends daily, and am known for my long Facebook and Instagram posts.
I started an Instagram account dedicated to sharing my deep posts in the summer of 2017 (@Steadyearthquake)
One day, a friend of mine commented on a post I made on there, suggesting I should start a blog.
This sparked my interest.
I prayed about it for a few months, and thought long and hard about it, and decided... Y'know what? I like writing. I do it a lot. Blogs don't have character limits. I'm in!
So here we are!
As well as writing, I enjoy playing my guitar, singing, dancing, acting, reading, exercising, (weird, right?) spending time with my friends and family, playing with kids, listening to music, dreaming, cooking, (didn't say I'm good at it, but I do enjoy it) doing household chores, and just spending time getting to know my God, and learn about myself.
In addition to that last comment, the last thing I'm going to share about myself is that, I am a Christian.
And I am very open about that fact.
I don't expect anyone besides my friends and family to see this, but if you came across this and you don't know me, let me explain a little bit about what I believe and why.
I'll share more about this in the future, as this blog is going to center around that belief, but for now I will just say: I believe in one God Who made the Heavens and the earth.
I believe He made every breathing thing beautifully and wonderfully.
I believe He loves everything He has created, and comforts us in times of heartache and trouble.
Likely there will be more on this to come, but I believe in Him because He set me free.
I spent years believing I wasn't worth much, and that I was just a second choice to everyone.
Believing in Him has brought me joy that I never would've otherwise found.
I don't expect everyone in the world to share in my faith.
I will not force anyone to change their mindset.
But I believe in God because when I had nowhere else to go, and nobody left to turn to, I found Him.
And though sometimes things remained the same, I wasn't going through it alone anymore.
Believing in something greater than this world brings me hope.
And you might not agree with that, and that's okay.
But having hope when everything is falling apart is something I wouldn't trade for anything.
And that's what I have by believing in Him.
So this blog is going to be about that.
I'm going to be open about the things I've learned, the struggles I face, and the joy as well as the pain found on my journey.
I will likely be posting once a week, though the day on which I post is still being decided, and I hope you all get to enjoy living through the steady earthquake of life with me!

Blessings,
Jaléna
